The central office of the 26 Armoured Brigade of the Nigerian Army has urged inhabitants of Birnin Kudu in Jigawa State and nearby locales not to stress over gunfire during an organized military drill in the vicinity.
This was included in a notice disseminated to NAIJATAB by the Garrison Commander, Lieutenant Colonel PJ Miri Dashe, on Saturday.
The Army stated that the training exercise will commence from Monday, March 30 to Wednesday, April 1, at the Police Shooting Range, Birnin Kudu.
The announcement highlighted that the sounds of gunfire that might be audible during this time will be part of a standard training session and should not generate anxiety among locals.
Nevertheless, the Army recommended that members of the public maintain distance from the shooting range and its vicinity throughout the exercise for their protection.
The notice indicated that such training exercises are vital for sustaining the operational preparedness of troops, enhancing their weapon handling capabilities, and ensuring they are adequately equipped to respond proficiently to security threats.
Residents were encouraged to stay composed and collaborate with security forces, as the drill is designed to enhance the ability of personnel to safeguard lives and property.
