Former Manchester United defender, Rio Ferdinand, has stated that Arsenal’s upcoming Premier League match against Bournemouth may be crucial in the title competition.
Ferdinand suggested it could be “goodnight” for the Gunners if they do not succeed in overcoming the Cherries on Saturday.
Mikel Arteta’s squad has been eliminated from two tournaments in the past fortnight, falling to Manchester City and Southampton in the Carabao Cup final and FA Cup quarter-final, respectively.
Arsenal, nevertheless, is still in a position to secure their first league championship since 2004 and seize the Champions League for the first time in the club’s existence.
They hold a nine-point advantage over Manchester City heading into the weekend.
“They’ve got Bournemouth at the weekend and that’s a challenging match, if you don’t secure a victory in that encounter… wow,” Ferdinand noted on his YouTube channel.
“And then you’ve got a resurgent Man City the following week? It could be goodnight.”
