
The Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, has praised the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, for its efforts in enhancing healthcare provision in rural regions throughout the state.
The governor, who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Dagogo Wokoma, expressed these sentiments during the NYSC orientation camp event held at Nonwa-Gbam in the Tai Local Government Area.
He emphasized that the NYSC Health Initiative for Rural Dwellers has significantly contributed to improving access to fundamental medical services for individuals in neglected areas.
Fubara further noted that the growing number of corps members assigned to Rivers State demonstrates enhanced trust in the state’s security conditions and governance framework.
He assured the corps members of the government’s ongoing assistance and urged them to fully utilize their service year.
In his speech, the NYSC State Coordinator, Moses Oleghe, encouraged the state government to hasten the development of a proposed 1,000-bed hostel to alleviate accommodation difficulties at the camp.
A total of 3,665 corps members were officially inducted and took the oath of allegiance during the event.
