“Laporta Unveils Five Key Refereeing Blunders that Hampered Barcelona vs Atletico at UCL”

The president of Barcelona, Joan Laporta, has attributed their departure from the Champions League to significant officiating choices.

Paul Cubarsi received a dismissal for a last-man foul as Atletico Madrid triumphed in the initial match at the Nou Camp.

Despite Barca establishing a two-goal advantage in the return match, Ademola Lookman reduced the deficit for Atletico.

Hansi Flick’s squad witnessed Ferran Torres’ second goal being annulled, prior to Eric Garcia being shown a red card.

Laporta remarked: “In the first match, we didn’t receive a definite penalty and we obtained a red card when it should have been red for Pau Cubarsi’s foul.

“Furthermore, the expulsion of Eric García last night was incorrect. Koundé was positioned to seize the ball. He was not the last defender.

“Additionally, it was a flawed judgement to invalidate Ferran’s second goal, and there was a foul on Dani Olmo. Fermín sustained a significant laceration on his face… and not even a yellow card was issued.”
