
The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has expressed hope regarding electoral enhancements in Ondo State following the appointment of Dr. Mutiu Olaleke Agboke as the new Resident Electoral Commissioner, REC.
The Commission, in a statement by INEC Ondo State Administrative Secretary, Tadese Adenike, verified that Dr. Agboke commenced his duties on Monday, April 20, 2026.
In a release acquired by NAIJATAB, the Commission emphasized Agboke’s comprehensive experience in election oversight and legal affairs, portraying him as an experienced expert with a solid background.
Furthermore, the Commission asserted that his assumption of the Ondo REC role will signify a new chapter in INEC’s electoral governance in the state.
The announcement disclosed that, “Agboke, originating from Abeokuta in Ogun State, was admitted to the Nigerian Bar in 2006 and previously worked with the Ogun State Independent Electoral Commission from 2012 to 2016.
“He has also held comparable roles in Ondo, Oyo, and Osun states, where he managed the execution of the 2019 and 2023 general elections.”
The Commission articulated that his historical record of “integrity, openness, and professionalism” would bolster public confidence and guarantee the provision of trustworthy, free, and fair elections in Ondo State.
