“Breaking News: UEFA Takes Action Against Benfica’s Gianluca Prestianni”

On Friday, UEFA imposed a six-match suspension on Benfica’s Gianluca Prestianni following purported racist remarks aimed at Real Madrid’s Vinicius Junior during their UEFA Champions League play-off match in Lisbon several weeks ago.

Benfica confirmed the announcement in an official statement, indicating that the Portuguese club had received a notice from UEFA.

As per the statement, Prestianni was penalized with a “six-match” ban for employing homophobic language during Benfica’s Champions League clash with Real Madrid in March.

It is important to note that the Champions League playoff was marred by various troubling incidents, most notably Vinicius’ accusation against Prestianni for making racist comments towards him.

The first leg of the Champions League playoff took place in Lisbon, and UEFA subsequently prohibited Prestianni from participating in the return leg at the Santiago Bernabeu.
