A leader of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, Atiku Abubakar, has committed to support anyone who surfaces as the party’s presidential nominee.
Atiku mentioned he would endorse the party’s presidential nominee even if that individual is a young person.
In a discussion with DW Hausa, Atiku also dismissed assertions that the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, could jeopardize the ADC, emphasizing that the party has continuously drawn members from across the country.
He stated: “We will stand behind and sanction whoever rises as the candidate. How many are we (presidential contenders), three or four? In the PDP, over ten of us ran for office.
“The youth have taken control of the party. The majority of those pursuing elective roles, from local councils to State Assembly, National Assembly, and House of Representatives, are young individuals. We have consistently asserted that our party is for the youth and women. Our responsibility is to create the avenues and transfer them to them.”
Inquired whether he would support a youth as the presidential nominee if ADC nominates one, Atiku replied, “Yes, why not,”
“Allah has provided everything for me. I have brought my sons and grandchildren home. What lies ahead for them and their offspring?” he remarked.
