A leader of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, Atiku Abubakar, has committed to supporting anyone that surfaces as the party’s presidential candidate.
Atiku stated he would endorse the party’s presidential nominee even if the individual is young.
In a discussion with DW Hausa, Atiku also rejected assertions that the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, could weaken the ADC, emphasizing that the party has consistently drawn members across the nation.
He remarked: “We will support and endorse whoever takes the mantle. How many are we (presidential contenders), three or four? In the PDP, more than ten of us vied.
“The youth have assumed leadership of the party. Most of those pursuing elective roles, from councillor to State Assembly, National Assembly, and House of Representatives, are young individuals. We have always asserted that our party is for the youth and women. Our responsibility is to create opportunities and pass them on to them.”
When asked if he would support a youth as the presidential candidate if ADC nominates one, Atiku replied, “Yes, why not,”
“Allah has provided everything for me. I have brought my sons and grandchildren home. What does the future hold for them and their offspring?” he expressed.
