Seasoned gospel artist, Prince Goke Bajowa, has threatened legal proceedings against his peer, Boye Best, for copyright violation.
While accusing Boye Best of consistently performing his track ‘Iwo Ko Lodami’ at various live events without giving him credit, Bajowa stated, “it is both deceptive and inequitable to present it in a manner that implies ownership or exclusive rights, particularly when you have clearly profited from its widespread circulation.”
Speaking in an Instagram video shared on Sunday, Bajowa referred to his remarks as a final notice to Boye Best, also warning that neglecting to properly credit him as the original creator would result in legal consequences.
Bajowa further elucidated that Boye Best has disregarded his requests despite previous discussions.
“This is a final notice to you, Boye Best @boyebest. You have persistently utilized my song Iwo Ko Lodami indiscriminately across numerous platforms and events, despite prior communication clarifying that you do not possess rights to this creation.
“While no one is obstructing you from performing the song, let this act as a clear notification. Moving forward, you must duly recognize the original creator, Goke Bajowa, in every instance of the song’s use. Failure to comply will leave me no alternative but to take necessary measures to safeguard the integrity and ownership of the work. This issue should not be underestimated,” the artist remarked.
