“Emir Sanusi Gives Nod to Dikko Umar as the New Sarkin Fulanin Ja’idanawa”

The Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi II, has sanctioned the selection of retired Air Marshal Mohammed Dikko Umar as the Sarkin Fulanin Ja’idanawa.

This selection, which becomes effective from April 22, 2026, was communicated in an official correspondence signed by Aliyu Ibrahim Ahmed, the Matawallen Kano and Senior Councillor of the Kano Emirate Council.

As per the letter issued from the council’s secretariat in Kano, the selection followed the demise of the previous titleholder, who departed on April 14, 2026.

The council indicated that the Emir voiced trust in the capability of the newly appointed individual to aid in the advancement and progress of the emirate.

“His Highness extends his congratulations and anticipates that you will utilize your extensive experience to foster the development of Kano Emirate and Kano State,” the letter stated.

The Emirate Council also offered supplications for the new titleholder, seeking divine direction as he undertakes his new roles.
