“Adamawa Authorities Annihilate 70+ Toxic Cattle: A Bold Move for Public Safety”

The Adamawa State Administration has mandated the disposal of over 70 bovines at the Jimeta Modern Abattoir after it was found that the creatures had grazed on harmful grass in sections of Fufore Local Government Area and adjacent Cameroon.

The Commissioner for Livestock and Aquaculture Development, Alhaji Salihu Idris, revealed this during an assessment of the abattoir in Jimeta, where he spoke to reporters regarding the situation.

He stated that the action signifies the government’s commitment to shield citizens from consuming harmful meat, advising the public to utilize only officially sanctioned slaughterhouses.

The commissioner noted that the order to eliminate the affected cattle was issued by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri as a precautionary measure to protect public health.

In his comments, the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Dr Mohammed Aminu Suleiman, mentioned that samples of the suspected flora would be sent to the Modibbo Adama University Teaching Hospital for comprehensive laboratory analysis to ascertain its toxicity and inform subsequent actions.

Additionally, the Director of Veterinary Services, Dr Batholomew Nyalas, stated that the matter was identified through regular monitoring by ministry personnel, emphasizing that swift action was essential to avert any possible public health crisis in the state.
