“INEC Boosts Optimism with Agboke’s Return as Ondo REC”



The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has conveyed positivity regarding electoral reforms in Ondo State following the appointment of Dr Mutiu Olaleke Agboke as the new Resident Electoral Commissioner, REC.

The Commission, in a release by INEC Ondo State Administrative Secretary, Tadese Adenike, verified that Dr Agboke officially took office on Monday, April 20, 2026.

In a communiqué acquired by NAIJATAB, the Commission emphasized Agboke’s substantial expertise in election administration and legal affairs, characterizing him as an accomplished expert with established proficiency.

The Commission also asserted that his assumption of the role as the Ondo REC would signify a new chapter in INEC’s electoral governance in the state.

The announcement disclosed that, “Agboke, who originates from Abeokuta in Ogun State, was admitted to the Nigerian Bar in 2006 and previously worked with the Ogun State Independent Electoral Commission from 2012 to 2016.”

“He has also held analogous roles in Ondo, Oyo, and Osun states, where he supervised the administration of the 2019 and 2023 general elections.”

The Commission declared that his legacy of “integrity, openness, and professionalism” would bolster public confidence and guarantee the provision of credible, free, and fair elections in Ondo State.
