Tragic Collision Claims Three Lives on Ogun Highway



A vehicular collision that transpired along the Onipepeye stretch of the Abeokuta-Sagamu Expressway has taken the lives of three individuals and left seven others critically injured.

The mishap occurred on Saturday at approximately 5:40 pm.

As reported by the Ogun Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, Corps Commander Oludare Ogunjobi, the incident involved a Sino truck and an Opel sedan.

Ogunjobi indicated that the deadly multi-vehicle crash was attributed to speed infringement (SPV) and loss of control (LOC).

He remarked, “The event, which took place at around 5:40 PM, involved a Sino truck and an Opel passenger vehicle. FRSC emergency teams from the Sector Command reacted within seven minutes of the notification, reaching the location by 5:52 PM.

“Total Individuals Involved: 10 (4 Adult Males, 3 Adult Females, 2 Female Children, 1 Male Child). Total Injured: 7 (3 Adult Females, 1 Female Child, 3 Adult Males). Total Fatalities: 3 (2 Adult Males, 1 Female Child).

The injured parties were swiftly transported to State Hospital Ijaye for immediate medical attention, while the deceased were taken to the mortuary of the same facility.

The sector commander cautioned drivers to adhere to safe speed regulations and ensure their vehicles are in proper mechanical condition to avert preventable traffic accidents.
