Intense anxiety has seized inhabitants in the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Abuja and Niger State subsequent to a reported scheme by Boko Haram and the Islamic State West Africa Province, ISWAP militants to assault government establishments.
Domestic and global reports suggest that the targeted locations include the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Kuje prison, and a military detention facility in the adjacent Niger state.
As per security officials, the intended assaults might be designed to liberate insurgents who have been confined in correctional facilities.
An informant from the Nigerian Customs validated the circulated memo to NAIJATAB but did not provide specifics regarding the security warning.
He did, nonetheless, mention that “it was an internal memo and not for public knowledge.”
NAIJATAB indicates that there have been security apprehensions in the nation’s capital with multiple reports of anticipated attacks.
Nonetheless, the Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi, informed reporters on Wednesday that the city remains secure.
