Kola Oyewo Opens Up About His Journey Battling Prostate Enlargement

Renowned Nollywood performer, Kola Oyewo, has revealed his struggle with prostate enlargement.

Oyewo disclosed this during actor Kunle Afod’s visit to his home.

Discussing his absence from the screen, the 80-year-old performer indicated that the ailment has hindered him from taking on certain roles.

Describing how it all began, Oyewo clarified that he was diagnosed following bouts of sleeplessness and regular urination among other indicators.

“Previously, I could travel from one venue to another and enact any character, but the condition has held me back. I can no longer take on certain roles except for a few minor parts.

“I am grateful to God because I’m improving now. You cannot endure a particular type of illness and revert to your former self, but I appreciate God,” he mentioned.

“Many individuals my age are still more vigorous than I am, but I am thankful to God for sustaining my life. I drove myself to the hospital after experiencing sleepless nights, frequent urination, and occasionally wetting myself before reaching the restroom. Following a series of examinations, I was diagnosed with an enlarged prostate,” he remarked.

NAIJATAB notes that Oyewo entered the film industry in 1964, gaining fame with ‘The Gods are not to blame’ and ‘Sango’.

He was also a lecturer at Obafemi Awolowo University, OAU, in Ile-Ife, Osun State, from 1996 until his retirement in 2011.
