“Highway Horror: Bandits Hold Travelers Hostage in Zamfara”

A number of adventurers have been seized after alleged criminals obstructed and assaulted key roads in Maradun and Bukkuyum Local Government Areas of Zamfara State.

The occurrence was detailed in a message shared on X by security expert, Bakatsine.

As stated in the message, the assailants initially obstructed the Janbako-Maradun road in Maradun LGA, where they murdered one individual and captured multiple passengers traveling the route.

In another assault, the criminals were also reported to have halted vehicles along the Gurusu-Anka road.

The victims comprised phone sellers who were allegedly returning from Nasarawar Bukkuyyum market in Bukkuyum LGA.

“Criminals yesterday afternoon obstructed the Janbako–Maradun route in Maradun LGA of Zamfara State, claiming one life and seizing several travelers. In an additional event, they also halted vehicles along the Gurusu–Anka path, kidnapping phone sellers returning from Nasarawar Bukkuyyum market in Bukkuyum LGA.

“How long will these roads continue to be slaughtering grounds without a consistent security presence or accountability?,” Bakatsine inquired.

Officials have yet to release an official statement regarding the most recent episode.
