
Three young leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from Ogbadibo Local Government Area in Benue State have perished in a devastating vehicle collision while en route to Lafia, Nasarawa State, to participate in the party’s North Central Zonal Congress.
The deceased have been recognized as Hon. Anawo Benjamin of Orokam Ward 3, Hon. Ogbe Enemari of Ai-oono Ward 3, and Hon. Abraham Enenche of Olachagbaha Ward.
They succumbed at the crash site, while several other members of the group incurred various levels of injuries and are presently undergoing treatment.
The tragic event transpired along the Makurdi–Lafia roadway on Wednesday, abruptly ending the lives of the young party leaders who were reportedly engaged in official party duty.
In response to the incident, the 2023 APC Benue South Senatorial candidate, Comrade Daniel Onjeh, conveyed his profound grief over the tragedy, calling it a heartbreaking occurrence.
He mentioned that the departed were dedicated grassroots politicians whose commitment and fidelity greatly aided the party’s advancement.
Onjeh extended his sympathies to the mourning families and the APC community in Ogbadibo and Benue State, beseeching God to grant them the fortitude to cope with the sorrowful loss.
He also advocated for solidarity among party members during this challenging time and offered prayers for the rapid recovery of those injured.
In a similar vein, the Senator representing Benue South Senatorial District and Senate Minority Leader, Comrade Abba Moro, characterized the incident as harrowing and catastrophic, particularly since multiple lives were lost from the same local government area simultaneously.
He expressed condolences to the residents of Ogbadibo, as well as to the families, friends, and political affiliates of the deceased, praying for the peaceful rest of their souls and for divine solace for those left behind.
The senator also wished a swift recovery for the injured.
