The former Deputy Governor of Imo State, Eze Madumere, has officially relinquished his affiliation with the All Progressives Congress, APC.
In a letter of resignation dated March 17, Madumere officially informed the party of his choice to depart.
“I am writing to officially inform you of my intent to resign my membership from the All Progressives Congress (APC) effective immediately,” the letter partially stated.
He mentioned that the choice came after considerable personal contemplation on his political path within the party, portraying the decision as challenging yet essential.
According to him, it has become crucial for him to seek new political avenues.
“Although the resolution is challenging, it has become essential after thorough personal contemplation on my political path with the party. I genuinely feel it is time for me to explore new avenues,” he remarked.
Madumere also conveyed gratitude for the connections he established while in the party and expressed hope that they would remain amicable.
“It is my sincere wish and expectation that we continue to uphold the amicable relationship we have cultivated over the years in our mutual aim to create a better Nigeria,” he added.
The letter was directed to the APC Chairman of Ezinihitte Ward in Mbiere, Mbaitoli Local Government Area of Imo State.
Madumere, who served as deputy governor during the tenure of former Governor Rochas Okorocha, announced that his departure from the ruling party takes immediate effect.
Madumere did not reveal which political party he intends to join but requested the party leadership and members to understand his choice as he evaluates other political platforms.
