
Subsequent to the escape of a 40-year-old individual, Mr. Bright Ochinachi, from the captors’ hideout on Umuahia–Aba road in Abia State, the Nigerian Army declared it has initiated a search and recovery operation for the victim’s vehicle taken by the alleged assailants, as well as to apprehend the suspects.
Captain Mazinho Attah, Assistant Director of Army Public Relations for the 14 Brigade of the Nigerian Army, Ohafia, stated that the man was kidnapped on March 15, 2026, by unknown armed men who also took his vehicle.
He mentioned that the event transpired along the thoroughfare connecting Umuahia and Aba, a route which has experienced sporadic security issues lately.
Following his escape, he informed Nigerian Army personnel stationed in the Isiala Ngwa region, and the troops, acting promptly on the information, along with the victim, initiated a coordinated search-and-recovery mission in the surrounding areas of Uratta and Umuchima Forest to identify the criminals and retrieve the stolen vehicle.
It mentioned that efforts are still in progress by the troops to locate the offenders and avert further occurrences along the corridor.
It urged community members to stay alert and immediately report any dubious activities to the authorities.
