The Kwankwasiyya Movement has highlighted the necessity for comprehensive and progressive leadership in Nigeria, following the assembly of prominent political figures at its 10th Sallah Kalankuwa celebration.
In a declaration released on Monday, the spokesperson for the movement, Habibu Sale Mohammed, stated that the event united leaders from various regions of the country and different political affiliations, symbolizing a collective dedication to national unity and advancement.
“What we observed transcends mere celebration. The variety and national representation of participants signify a common desire for a more inclusive, equitable, and progressive Nigeria,” he expressed.
He pointed out that the event, while arranged as a cultural and entertainment occasion to commemorate the Sallah celebration, held greater political importance due to the stature of the individuals in attendance.
“We are profoundly privileged by the presence of such notable figures whose involvement significantly enriched the event,” Mohammed remarked.
The movement also underscored the involvement of members of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), led by Najaatu Bala Mohammed, as well as prominent representatives from the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), including its national leadership and former vice-presidential candidate, Isaac Idahosa.
As per Mohammed, the gathering of leaders from various political factions illustrates that cooperation is both achievable and essential for Nigeria’s evolution.
“This assembly conveys a powerful message that constructive dialogue and coalition across political lines are both feasible and crucial for national advancement,” he stated.
He further remarked that such interactions could assist in building trust and shaping future political collaborations in anticipation of the 2027 general elections.
“As we near the upcoming electoral cycle, platforms like this assist in fostering trust, promoting dialogue, and establishing the foundation for strategic alignment in the interest of the nation,” he noted.
The Kwankwasiyya Movement reiterated its dedication to advancing unity and citizen-focused leadership through inclusive interactions.
“We will persist in creating credible platforms that unite Nigerians, enhance national cohesion, and inspire joint action toward a brighter future,” Mohammed added.
Among the attendees were Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi, and former Bayelsa State Governor Seriake Dickson, along with traditional leaders, party heads, and other stakeholders.
