Former Minister of Youth and Sports, Solomon Dalung, claims that the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has positioned itself as an adversary against the African Democratic Congress, ADC.
Dalung, a leader within the ADC, made this remark during an interview on Friday on Trust TV’s Daily Politics.
He stated, “The most concerning aspect is that as INEC now identifies itself as the primary opponent against the ADC, it coincides with the highest influx of individuals joining the party.
“INEC is the opposition party in Nigeria, as it is the sole entity that has failed to operate within the legal framework.
“It acts with disregard and carelessness, as even now, while I sit as a lawyer, I am still unable to identify the source from which INEC derives the authority it wields, and without any regret. It continues to conduct itself as if it holds the moral imperative to do so.
“There was a judicial ruling against the ruling party that confirmed the suspension of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP’s Samuel Anyanwu from the party. Yet today, INEC has chosen to disregard that judicial decree.”
