Tragedy in Plateau: JNI Reports Four Muslims Dead and Ten Unaccounted For

The Plateau State division of the Jama’atu Nasril Islam, JNI, has asserted that the Muslim community has lost four of its members, while 10 remain unaccounted for, following the catastrophic assaults in the Gari Yawaye area of Angwan Rukuba in Jos North Local Government Authority of the state on Sunday evening, which resulted in over 30 fatalities and numerous injuries.

In a declaration issued on Tuesday by Salim Umar, the JNI Secretary in the state, the organization revealed that this finding emerged after comprehensive investigations and feedback from Muslim communities in the state post-attack.

Umar indicated that, contrary to circulating narratives suggesting that only Christians were targeted, Muslim adherents also faced losses.

“The Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI), Plateau State Division, sadly confirms the demise of four Muslims and reports that ten others are unaccounted for following the recent assault on the Anguwan Rukuba area in Jos North Local Government Area,” Umar stated.

“After meticulous investigation and information gathered from Muslim communities, we have identified that four Muslims were killed while ten are still unaccounted for.”

He further mentioned that the remains of some victims have been recognized by their family members at the Jos University Teaching Hospital, JUTH, while the ten missing individuals have not been found, with their families persistently searching for them since the occurrence without success.

“We have also identified that two individuals are currently undergoing treatment at JUTH. JNI is in communication with the families of the victims.

“We express our condolences to the families of all the victims who lost their loved ones and urge the public to remain composed. We appreciate the endeavors of the state government and security forces in managing the situation,” the JNI Secretary commented.
