Former Sokoto State Governor and notable figure of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Senator Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, has detailed essential priorities Nigerians should anticipate if the party establishes the government in 2027.
Speaking to reporters shortly after the party’s recent state congress, Tambuwal indicated that security would be the foremost concern of an ADC-led administration.
He remarked that substantial progress would be unattainable without addressing insecurity through strategic, technological, and community-oriented strategies, assuring that the party will also prioritize economic reforms focused on alleviating hardship, addressing unemployment, especially among young people, and generating opportunities through job creation, support for small and medium enterprises, and economic diversification.
According to him, “Education and agriculture will serve as vital pillars of the administration’s agenda, with continuous investment and reforms in education to foster long-term growth. Agriculture will be geared towards enhancing food security and creating jobs.”
The ADC leader further highlighted power supply as a significant focus area, asserting that dependable electricity will be crucial for industrial advancement and overall economic efficiency.
The primary aim of the party, he emphasized, would be to establish a responsive and accountable government dedicated to enhancing the daily lives of Nigerians.
He stated that, fundamentally, the objective is to develop a government that is responsive, accountable, and centered on enhancing the daily lives of Nigerians.
Regarding worries about possible internal conflicts within the ADC, particularly concerning the emergence of a presidential candidate, Tambuwal noted that such difficulties are part of the democratic process in any evolving political party.
He felt that competition for leadership roles was unavoidable but underscored that the party remains devoted to democratic ideals, adding that consensus among stakeholders would be sought where feasible, while established primary election protocols would be adhered to where consensus could not be attained.
Tambuwal conveyed confidence that with transparency, fairness, and a mutual commitment to the party’s goals, internal competition would bolster rather than diminish the ADC.
