
The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has proclaimed modifications for the campaigning duration prior to the Osun State gubernatorial election.
The modified timetable for the election was disclosed in a statement released on Thursday by Mohammed Kudu Haruna, National Commissioner and Chairperson, Information and Voter Education Committee.
“The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) presented the Amended Timetable and Schedule of Activities for the 2027 General Election and advanced the Osun State Gubernatorial Election by one week from the 8th of August 2026 to the 15th.
“Consequently, the final day for political parties’ campaigns in the state is now midnight on Thursday, August 13, 2026, in accordance with Section 98(1) of the Electoral Act 2026, which stipulates that campaigns shall conclude 24 hours before election day.
“The Commission implores all political parties, candidates, and stakeholders to diligently comply with the amended schedule.
“INEC remains devoted to conducting free, fair, credible, and inclusive elections,” the statement remarked.
