
Renowned American performer, Ralph Macchio was born on the 4th of November 1961 in Huntington, New York. Ralph became well-known after he portrayed the character of Daniel LaRusso in the films, Karate Kid and Cobra Kai.
Ralph was born to Rosalie (née DeSantis) and Ralph Macchio, Sr. His father has mixed Italian and Greek heritage, but they resided in Naples.
At the age of 3, Macchio commenced dance lessons and was discovered by a talent agent when he turned 16. Subsequently, Macchio landed the part of Jeremy Andretti in the television show Eight Is Enough, after which he secured the role of Johnny Cade in the 1983 motion picture The Outsiders.
This character was what led to his casting as Daniel LaRusso in the 1984 film, Karate Kid along with its two sequels, The Karate Kid Part II and The Karate Kid Part III. Macchio featured in the 1986 movie Crossroads, playing the music student Eugene Martone.
During the celebration of the 30th anniversary of The Karate Kid at the Japanese American National Museum in 2014, Macchio mentioned that the yellow 1947 Ford convertible his character Daniel receives from Miyagi in the initial film resides in his garage.
On the 5th of April 1987, Macchio wed a woman his grandmother introduced to him at the age of 15, Phyllis Fierro. The couple was blessed with two children, Julia born in 1992 and Daniel born in 1996.
