The Abia State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has refuted claims that its State Working Committee, SWC, backed a specific governorship candidate in the state without ensuring a fair competition.
The party was responding to a concern raised by Mascot Uzor Kalu, a gubernatorial candidate and sibling of Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, who accused the SWC of intending to support a certain candidate for the gubernatorial nomination.
Abia APC, in a declaration on Sunday, authored by Uche Aguoru, its Publicity Secretary, labeled the claim as completely false, deceptive, and lacking any foundation.
“To clarify, the State Working Committee has not supported any candidate for the gubernatorial nomination or for any elective office,” Aguoru stated.
The Abia APC clarified that the sole endorsement made collectively is that of President Bola Tinubu, emphasizing that neither the SWC nor the expanded State Executive Committee has endorsed any candidate at any tier.
It asserted that the SWC, led by the state chairman, Chijioke Chukwu, would guarantee that all candidates are afforded an equal opportunity during the primaries.
