“Karota Calls for Action to Alleviate Zaria Road Traffic Woes”

The Kano Road Traffic Agency (KAROTA) has instructed the contractor overseeing the current road development along Zaria Road in Kano to promptly devise methods to alleviate the severe traffic impacting drivers in the vicinity.

The agency indicated that the order became essential due to the ongoing congestion triggered by the road construction, particularly around Tamburawa and Kwanar Fari on the edges of Kano metropolis.

The Managing Director of KAROTA, Faisal Mahmud Kabir, who was represented by the Deputy Managing Director, Alhaji Auwal Lawan Shu’aibu Aranposu, made the appeal during a meeting with a representative from the construction firm, Mr. Venancius Okwuase, who visited the agency’s headquarters in Kano.

This information was included in a notice released on Friday by Abubakar Ibrahim Sharada, the Public Relations Officer of KAROTA.

According to the notice, Aranposu voiced concern regarding the extended periods drivers and other road users now endure on the road due to the blockages in the impacted regions.
“We are troubled by the circumstances on Zaria Road. Motorists and other road users are encountering significant delays due to the traffic bottleneck created by the ongoing construction,” he stated.

He thus urged the construction company to take immediate action by establishing alternative routes to aid in lessening the congestion and enable vehicles to navigate more smoothly.

“The contractor should promptly discover effective methods to alleviate the issue by creating alternative routes to facilitate smooth traffic flow and allow road users to proceed without unwarranted delays,” he added.

He also reiterated KAROTA’s dedication to tackling traffic issues both within Kano city and the neighboring areas.

“KAROTA is dedicated to ensuring improved traffic management and reducing congestion throughout the Kano metropolitan area and other regions of the state,” he remarked.

In his reply, the representative of the construction company, Mr. Venancius Okwuase, stated that several measures had already been implemented to mitigate the traffic situation.

He indicated that certain U-turn points have been reinstated to assist in easing congestion along the road.
“The U-turns at Kwanar Fari, Immigration Office Junction, and the Civil Defence Office have already been reopened to help alleviate the traffic congestion and enhance movement along the road,” he elaborated.

Okwuase further added that another vital route at Kwanar Tamburawa would soon be accessible once the construction work on the stone base and asphalt laying is finalized.

Zaria Road, which links Kano metropolis to various communities including Tamburawa, Karfi, and Kwanar Dawaki, has recently experienced significant traffic delays due to the ongoing road construction project.

Motorists and passengers passing through the area frequently spend between two and three hours navigating the congestion before arriving at their destinations.
