“Content Creators at Risk: Legal Action for Misusing EFCC Branding”

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has warned individuals and content producers against the unauthorized utilization of its name, emblem, attire, and other official identifiers in skits and online productions.

The anti-corruption agency issued this alert after noticing an increasing trend of creators depicting the Commission in comedy and various digital content without consent.

In a video posted on X, the EFCC stated that such representations frequently misrepresent its principles and established procedures, emphasizing that it has not given permission for any such utilization.

“It has come to the awareness of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission that certain individuals and content producers are employing the name, emblem, and likeness of EFCC in skits and other media productions.

“A number of these skits distort our principles and standard operating protocols. We want to inform the public that the EFCC has not approved any such utilization. The EFCC neither endorses, supports, nor authorizes any comedy, drama, or online content that utilizes our identity without written consent.

“Consequently, the public is hereby advised to stop and refrain from using our name, emblem, attire, or any identifying features in skits or promotional materials without prior written authorization. Be forewarned, all who breach these directives will face legal consequences,” the statement indicated.

The Commission reiterated that its identity must not be employed in any form of media content without official written clearance, cautioning that offenders would encounter legal repercussions.
