The Kebbi State Administration has refuted claims associating it with the ongoing legal battle involving two splinter leaders of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, within the state.
The denial was included in a declaration released by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Ahmed Idris, in Birnin Kebbi.
The administration stated it has no relation with the ADC and is not engaged in the internal turmoil currently affecting the party.
“We have been alerted to reports asserting that the Kebbi State Administration is the force behind the legal dispute between two opposing ADC chairmen.
We unequivocally declare that the administration is neither a participant in the ADC nor connected to the party,” the declaration mentioned.
It highlighted that the conflict is a domestic issue within the ADC, which has been wrestling with a prolonged leadership struggle resulting in legal actions from competing factions.
The administration also reproached certain media narratives regarding the matter, accusing them of lacking objectivity and professionalism.
As per the declaration, several of the reports presented are biased and do not reflect principles of fairness and ethical journalism, claiming that the authors were reportedly absent during judicial proceedings.
It urged reporters to strictly comply with professional standards in their coverage and refrain from disseminating unverified assertions.
The administration additionally rejected accusations from one of the factional leaders who accused it of swaying the judicial process, deeming the assertion as unfounded.
“This is not an APC matter, but rather an internal contention within the ADC, which ought to be resolved through internal channels rather than baseless allegations,” the declaration continued.
The discord in the ADC in Kebbi involves rival splinter leaders, Abdulrasak Abubakar and Sufiyanu Bala, who are presently in court over alleged contempt.
The state administration asserted that it has never discriminated against members of any political party, labeling the allegation directed at it as untrue.
