The National Rescue Movement, NRM, has asserted that it does not intend to merge with any political party in anticipation of the 2027 general elections.
During a press conference in Abuja on Tuesday, the National Chairman of NRM, Prince Chinedu Obi, stated that the party is prepared to undergo the process of selecting a formidable presidential candidate capable of contesting against the current administration in 2027.
Responding to inquiries from journalists, he remarked, “We’re not considering a merger with any political party or participating in a coalition. We will nominate our own presidential candidate…”
Moreover, he mentioned that the Federal High Court resolved the internal dispute within the party on Tuesday when Justice Joyce Abdulmalik rejected an appeal submitted by Chief Edozie Njoku’s faction of the party.
He indicated that the party stands as one of the most robust political entities in the nation currently, free from internal turmoil unlike other opposition parties.
He noted that NRM is prepared to back any candidate deemed strong enough to vie for various positions in the forthcoming general elections.
“We want Nigerians to understand that the notion they possess that NRM is in disarray due to a few individuals who aren’t even party members is unfounded; there is no internal conflict within NRM.
“There are still reputable political parties. The NRM is the one ready to rescue Nigeria from its current predicament.”
