
Assailants believed to be abductors have targeted a commercial bus allegedly owned by the GUO transport firm, resulting in the death of its operator and the kidnapping of an undisclosed number of travelers on the Benin-Lagos route.
NAIJATAB learned that this occurrence took place on Sunday, April 19, 2026.
Reports indicate that the assailants intercepted the commercial bus while it was en route to the eastern region of the nation from Lagos on the frequently used Benin-Ore segment of the road.
The assailants are said to have fired upon the vehicle, compelling it to stop.
The operator of the bus was reported to have succumbed to injuries at the scene, while the passengers were reportedly taken into the forest.
In a widely circulated video, a commentator was heard stating that the “assailants intercepted a commercial bus traveling toward the East, killing the driver and dragging the passengers into the forest.
Verifying the occurrence, the Public Relations Officer of the Edo State Police Command, ASP Eno Ikoedem, mentioned that officials of the Command have initiated a search for the abductors.
Ikoedem further noted that the officials have begun searching the bush to rescue the kidnapped travelers and apprehend the offenders.
“The occurrence transpired under the Iguobazuwa Police division; the Police Commissioner has mandated neighboring divisions to assist with the bush search for the rescue operation,” she added.
