
The Ogun State Police Command has detained and charged nine traffic lawbreakers as part of the ongoing ‘Operation No Traffic Gridlock’ in the Sango-Ota region of the state.
The lawbreakers are Rufus Kunle, Sanni Ogbewi, Aremu Oluwatunmise, Kayode Ariyo, Wisdom Akpan, Yinka Molaolu, Olushola Adebowale, Ikechukwu Ogah, and Nwuda Chukwuka.
The spokesperson for the Command, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, confirmed the detentions to NAIJATAB on Wednesday, emphasizing that the individuals also hindered public thoroughfares.
Babaseyi elaborated that personnel were strategically assigned to identified hotspots of ongoing traffic congestion and road misbehavior.
“During the coordinated enforcement operation, multiple vehicles and tricycles were seized for breaching existing traffic regulations, while those obstructing the smooth flow of traffic were promptly confiscated in line with the Command’s zero-tolerance approach.”
Babaseyi mentioned that all defendants have since been officially presented in court, while monitoring and enforcement procedures are still ongoing to identify and arrest additional offenders.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, praised the professionalism and dedication of the personnel, and reiterated the Command’s strict stance against road obstruction and traffic misconduct.
The commissioner cautioned that any person, irrespective of status, found intentionally creating traffic jams or ignoring lawful instructions from traffic officers will face stringent consequences in accordance with the law.
