Atiku Unveils Alleged Scheme to Sabotage ADC Convention, Calls It a Grave Abuse of Authority

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has claimed intentions to hinder the African Democratic Congress, ADC, from conducting its convention in Abuja, branding the situation as a misuse of public authority.

The assertion was made in a statement disseminated on April 14, 2026, on his official platform.

As stated, the alleged initiative entails attempts to revoke the permit of Rainbow Event Centre, the location designated to host the ADC convention.

Atiku noted that the opposition party had met all necessary prerequisites for the gathering, asserting that there was no legal foundation to deny it access to the venue.

“The ADC has settled every charge. The ADC has finalized every agreement. The ADC has infringed no law,” he stated.

He characterized the scenario as an endeavor to suppress opposition endeavors, cautioning that such maneuvers could compromise democratic values.

“This is how democracies are suffocated through a myriad of trivial, spiteful actions against opposition parties,” the statement claimed.

The former presidential aspirant further asserted that the convention would proceed as scheduled, despite the alleged pressures.

“The convention will take place. The ADC will prevail. And Nigeria will progress alongside it,” he concluded.
