A presumed chief of the Buccaneers confraternity in Surulere, Lagos, Adedipe Adeyinkan, commonly known as Yinka Agali, has been murdered.
NAIJATAB gathered that the occurrence took place on Saturday night, April 11, 2026, in the Iponri region of Surulere, where the deceased was allegedly viewed as a prominent figure within the organization.
As per reports, Agali was ambushed while driving along the Iponri route. While certain narratives ascribe the assassination to ongoing conflicts among cult factions, others propose potential political motivations, particularly in the lead-up to local elections.
Footage circulating on social media has also associated the deceased with the All Progressives Congress, APC, although these allegations remain unproven.
Validating the update, the Lagos State Police Command stated it received a notification of gunfire at approximately 11:30 p.m. near the National Stadium Bridge heading towards Iponri.
A patrol unit from the Surulere Division was promptly dispatched to the scene, where officers found the victim inside an unregistered white Mercedes-Benz GLE 350, bearing multiple gunshot injuries.
Police spokesperson, Abimbola Adebisi, noted that the victim was hurried to Mainland General Hospital, Yaba, where he was pronounced dead. His body was subsequently placed in a morgue for an autopsy.
She further revealed that the assailants abandoned an unregistered black Ford Edge at the site and fled in another vehicle. Both vehicles have since been recovered, while endeavors are ongoing to locate and capture those accountable.
Adebisi added that the family of the deceased has reclaimed the body and expressed that they would not pursue the case any further.
