The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Kano has apprehended 21 individuals and confiscated various illegal substances during a significant operation conducted throughout the state.
A statement endorsed by Sadiq Muhammad Maigatari, the agency’s Public Relations Officer, indicated that the raids took place on April 11, 2026, under the direction of Commander D. Y. Lawal.
Officers focused on several drug hotspots, including Filin Idi, Hotoro, Mariri, Fagge, and Farm Center along Zaria Road.
During the operation, officials retrieved a variety of illegal items, such as cannabis, pregabalin, codeine-based cough syrup, and rubber solution utilized as an inhalant. Locally manufactured weapons were also confiscated.
“Individuals who attempted to assault officers with locally-crafted weapons were tactically disarmed and taken into custody. Ongoing investigations aim to identify major drug traffickers and construct cases for prosecution,” he stated.
Commenting on the situation, Commander D. Y. Lawal remarked that the assistance from the Kano State government has fortified the agency’s efforts.
“The prompt provision of vehicles by the Kano State Government has permitted our command to broaden coverage and respond swiftly to intelligence.
“We shall continue to utilize these resources for continual, visible operations to eliminate illicit drugs from our communities. Those still involved in this illegal trade should change their ways now before it is too late,” he stated.
The NDLEA assured residents of its commitment to addressing drug-related offenses and safeguarding the youth in the state.
It also encouraged the public to assist its endeavors by sharing valuable information and collaborating with law enforcement agencies.
