“Ogun ADC Hosts Dynamic State Executive Congress in Abeokuta”

The faction led by David Mark of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has selected Emmanuel Famojuro as the new chairman of the party in Ogun State.

The newly appointed state executives were affirmed during the State Congress held at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL), Abeokuta, on Saturday.

While addressing the assembly, Olatunji Soyinka, the chairperson of the Congress Committee, presented a consolidated list of the new executives, asserting that it embodies the consensus and decisions of all party leaders and factions within the ADC.

Soyinka, a past member of the House of Representatives, posed the question to the delegates, who responded unanimously.

“By the authority vested in me, I acknowledge, based on the list provided to our committee, that the incoming state chairman will be Mr. Emmanuel Famojuro,” Soyinka declared.

In his speech of acceptance, the newly appointed chairman, Emmanuel Famojuro, called for solidarity among party members, assuring them of effective leadership.

He committed to enhancing the party’s significance through grassroots engagement and inclusivity, emphasizing the essential contributions of youths and women.

“We must operate as one family. Youths and women are the foundation of our party,” he remarked, underscoring the necessity of grassroots engagement and inclusivity.

Famojuro encouraged party leaders to offer mentorship and assistance, recognizing that their experience and skills are crucial for the party’s advancement.

Meanwhile, Oladimeji Fabiyi, the Deputy National Financial Secretary of the party, commended the congress committee for establishing a framework for peace and unity within the party in the state.

He urged the new leaders to remain loyal to the party rather than to individuals.

“The outgoing leadership has not performed adequately for ADC in the state. They have transformed the party into a transactional entity, where negotiations are commonplace. In fact, their leadership has driven many capable aspirants away from participating due to a lack of hope; they feel uninspired,” he commented.

In response, the faction of the ADC in the state led by Femi Soluade, described the congress as a sham.

He claimed to have been re-elected as the state chairman of the party with Babatunde Adedeji as Deputy State Chairman and Agbebiyi Olusoji as State Secretary, along with other members of the State Executive Committee.

“It was a sham election. I have emerged as the legitimate State Chairman of ADC, conducted today at the State Secretariat, overseen by Chairman Rasheed Salvador.

“We were correctly screened on the 9th of April, but the jesters were never screened by the national organization on that day.

“All Executives in my cabinet were duly affirmed by consensus and sworn in,” he stated.
