The factional National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Nafiu Bala Gombe, has declared that the party under his guidance will prohibit individuals older than 55 from vying for political positions.
Gombe revealed this during an interview with BBC Hausa, where he detailed a vision focused on generational transformation and increased youth involvement in politics.
“The African Democratic Congress (ADC) is a party that is for all Nigerians. Our current efforts are aimed at ensuring the party progresses appropriately.
“We have resolved to grant youths a genuine opportunity. The moment has arrived for younger individuals to assume leadership roles in politics.
“If you exceed 55 years of age, you will not be able to run for positions in the ADC under our direction.
“We aim to introduce fresh perspectives, innovative ideas, and vigor from the youth. Nigeria’s future relies on the younger generation.
“The traditional methods have not served the country well. We must widely open the path for youths to engage fully as candidates, leaders, and decision-makers,” he stated.
