
Personnel from the Lagos State Taskforce have apprehended suspected “Omotaku” touts at two distinct locations throughout Lagos State following reported incidents of harassment and intimidation towards road users.
As per the statement from the Lagos State Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, the events, which transpired on Wednesday, involved separate altercations at Marwa Bus Stop in Lekki and along Ikorodu Road at Palmgrove.
In the initial occurrence at Marwa Bus Stop, a truck driver whose vehicle had malfunctioned was allegedly approached by several individuals who demanded his phone and cash while threatening him.
“At Marwa Bus Stop in Lekki, a truck driver whose vehicle had become inoperative was confronted and intimidated by individuals who requested his phone and cash,” the statement noted.
In a different incident at Palmgrove along Ikorodu Road, it was reported that suspected touts attempted to coerce motorists and other road users in the vicinity.
“Likewise, another event took place at Palmgrove along Ikorodu Road, where suspected touts tried to intimidate road users,” the statement further elaborated.
Both incidents were swiftly managed after operatives from the Lagos State Taskforce intervened and apprehended the suspects at the scene.
The agency confirmed that the suspects will be processed according to the law.
“We remain dedicated to ensuring the safety of our roads, safeguarding motorists, and eradicating all forms of harassment and intimidation throughout Lagos.
Enforcement actions will persist across identified hotspots to uphold order and security,” the statement concluded.
