Tragic Attack: Ebonyi Monarch Slain by Mysterious Gunmen



Unidentified assailants have slain the traditional leader of Ishinkwor community, Onicha Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, HRH Jesophat Ikegwu.

The occurrence took place on Wednesday evening in the monarch’s residence.

Insiders from the community informed NAIJATAB that the assailants stormed Ikegwu’s residence and shot him through the window.

The chairman of the local government, Ikechukwu Ogbofia, who verified the homicide, denounced the act.

He mentioned that the police are probing the murder and appealed to the community members to stay composed.

Upon being contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer of Ebonyi Command, SP Joshua Ukandu, validated the event.

Ikegwu’s murder raises the total count of rulers killed in the state to five.

Last month, the traditional leader of Ndufu-Alike community, Ikwo Local Government Area, was murdered following his abduction. His body was set on fire by his captors.
