Rapper Dremo has disclosed the reasons behind his departure from Davido Music Worldwide, DMW, informing that the label’s administration concentrated more on the CEO, artist Davido, than on other performers.
In a recent discussion with Echo Room, the rapper expressed that the management’s emphasis on Davido hindered the advancement of other artists within the label.
“I didn’t collaborate with Idowest, who was my label mate and fellow rapper, because during that period, we were all struggling to remain relevant in the music scene. Even as a collective, DMW did not engage in many collaborations; we never had a record label album. The management concentrated solely on Davido,” he stated.
Dremo also indicated that DMW fell short of his expectations.
“The label [DMW] didn’t provide me with financial support. It functioned more as a platform. I didn’t receive what I desired from the label,” he remarked.
The rapper mentioned that his encounter with DMW has led him to decide to stay as an independent artist.
