Liverpool icon, Jamie Carragher, has asserted that departing Reds winger Mohamed Salah has eclipsed Cristiano Ronaldo’s Premier League legacy.
Expressing his thoughts in his column for The Telegraph after Salah’s announcement that he will leave Anfield at the season’s conclusion, Carragher contended that only Arsenal legend Thierry Henry ranks above the Egyptian among the league’s all-time exceptional foreign forwards.
“In the hierarchy of international attacking players who have thrived in England, only Thierry Henry surpasses Salah,” Carragher stated.
He also refuted comparisons with Ronaldo, Eden Hazard, Gianfranco Zola, Dennis Bergkamp, and Eric Cantona, emphasizing that none matched Salah’s prolonged supremacy.
“Ronaldo’s tenure at Manchester United, both initially and upon his return, was flanked by his prime years at Real Madrid,” Carragher remarked. “Salah marginally surpasses him when assessing strictly on Premier League performance and influence.”
Since his £34m transfer from Roma to Liverpool in 2017, Salah has accumulated 189 goals and 92 assists—more than any other player in the league during that period.
