Kogi Central senator, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, has urged political figures who departed from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to come back and reconstruct the party.
Natasha expressed this request while speaking to party members during the initiation of the PDP National Convention Committee in Abuja.
The legislator pointed out that their expertise, institutional knowledge, and dedication to fostering a better Nigeria were crucial for the party’s mission to restore and reclaim its rightful place in national matters.
She mentioned her optimism that the occasion signifies a pivotal moment for PDP, highlighting the party’s deterioration in Senate representation from 37 to 6 senators as a result of leadership turmoil.
“When I inquired with my colleagues about their departures, they cited internal conflicts. I’m telling them: believe me, it’s not better on the other side. You are invited back to PDP,” she stated.
Chairman of the Convention Committee Okezie Victor Ikpeazu characterized the occasion as significant and a time for honesty.
The former governor of Abia state acknowledged internal obstacles and legal struggles but recognized the appellate court’s endorsement of the National Caretaker Working Committee as a new chance for rejuvenation.
The ambassador-designate also emphasized the importance of reconciliation, encouraging members to transcend divisions.
“What PDP requires is genuine reconciliation, grounded in honesty, propelled by earnestness, and upheld by reciprocal respect,” he noted.
