“Shifting Alliances: Adelabu, Shittu, and Olaniyan Prepare to Exit Tinubu’s Oyo Leadership in 2027”

Three residents of Oyo State currently employed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu are anticipated to vacate their positions at any moment, NAIJATAB reports.

The trio is expected to exit Tinubu’s administration prior to March 31 this year.

Our correspondent discovered that their determination to resign is a result of a mandate conveyed by the President earlier this week.

NAIJATAB reports that Tinubu had, several days ago, instructed all political appointees within his government wishing to run for elective positions in the 2027 general elections to resign before March 31.

Head of Information and Public Relations at the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF), Dewan Goshit, announced this in a statement released on Tuesday. https://NAIJATAB.ng/2026/03/17/tinubu-orders-political-appointees-seeking-elective-offices-to-resign-before-march-31/

NAIJATAB, however, has learned that among the three individuals are Mr. Adebayo Adelabu, Barrister Adebayo Shittu, and Engineer Rauf Olaniyan, who are expected to resign.

The trio are candidates for governor representing the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

They are to resign to pursue their gubernatorial aspirations in the 2027 general elections within the state.

Adelabu, a native of Ibadan, the state capital, is the current Minister of Power. He was appointed by Tinubu in 2023.

Shittu, who serves as Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of Dave Umahi Federal University of Health Sciences in Ebonyi State, previously held the position of Minister of Communications under former President Muhammadu Buhari.

Shittu, originating from Saki in the Oke Ogun geopolitical zone, was appointed by Tinubu in June 2024.

Olaniyan, a prior Deputy Governor of the state, is the Chairman of the Governing Council of the Federal College of Education (Special), Oyo.

He has held this role since July 2024.
