
The Bauchi State Police Command has detained two candidates pursuing enlistment into the Nigeria Police Force due to the purported possession of counterfeit National Examinations Council (NECO) certificates during a vetting session at the Police Training School in Bauchi.
The command’s spokesperson, Nafiu Habib, revealed this in a statement issued on Saturday.
Habib clarified that the recruitment vetting was overseen by A.Y. Dickson, who led the team managing the process at the training facility.
He noted that a total of 403 individuals took part in the vetting procedure, comprising 354 applicants for general duty and 49 specialist candidates.
He indicated that the two suspects were identified with fabricated NECO results during the credential verification.
The police spokesperson further mentioned that both individuals carry the identical name, Yusuf Usman, and had been moving together throughout the vetting process before their documents were flagged as counterfeit.
Habib additionally pointed out that the team leader instructed that the suspects be handed over to the Divisional Police Officer of the ‘E’ Division for further inquiry.
He cautioned potential applicants to refrain from any form of deceit during recruitment sessions.
NAIJATAB reports that the vetting is part of the ongoing nationwide recruitment of 50,000 police constables, which commenced on Monday.
