Yusuf Tuggar, the previous Minister of Foreign Affairs, on Saturday officially announced his aspiration to vie for the governorship election in Bauchi State in 2027.
Tuggar stated that he intends to contest under the All Progressive Congress (APC) platform to instigate a positive transformation in the state.
He disclosed this while addressing party enthusiasts at a political gathering in Bauchi.
“I am stepping forward not for authority but for service and advancement.
“I am coming forward to build upon the legacies of our esteemed leaders and propel the state forward,” he remarked.
The candidate mentioned that he has crafted a roadmap to steer the execution of a 10-point agenda aimed at accelerating sustainable social and economic growth in the state.
The former minister indicated that the agenda will emphasize economic diversification, agricultural reform, livestock enhancement, health, education, and empowerment of women/youth.
Additionally, he identified other areas such as digital innovation/entrepreneurship promotion, clean energy, infrastructure and rural development, anti-corruption initiatives, as well as enhanced salaries and welfare for the workforce.
Tuggar expressed that, if elected, he would launch robust programs to advocate for youth-inclusive governance and promote community policing through partnerships with the government, security forces, community, and religious leaders, to nurture peace and stability in the state.
He consequently sought the backing of key stakeholders to assist him in securing the party’s nomination to serve as its gubernatorial candidate.
