
The variety of the extensive tourism sector is evident in the recently accepted UNWTO members, which encompass private enterprises, Destination Management Organizations, academic institutions, professional groups, Intergovernmental Organizations, and non-profit associations.
Comprising six from Europe, four from the Americas, four from Asia and the Pacific, two from Africa, and two from the Middle East, the latest entries also exemplify UNWTO’s worldwide vision.
During its gathering on November 17, the Committee on Matters Relating to Affiliate Membership evaluated and endorsed the 18 applications, which were subsequently forwarded for review and authorization by the 117th Executive Council per the existing legal protocol for admission. Following this formal ratification from the Executive Council, the newcomers can now benefit from all the privileges and entitlements associated with UNWTO membership, in line with the Organization’s statutes and rules.
UNWTO Secretary-General Zurab Pololikashvili remarked: “We are delighted to observe the Affiliate Members network expanding while contributing value to the Organization, and extend a hearty welcome to the 18 new entities joining our community.”
The 18 newly added Affiliate Members are:
