Teresa Terry: Biography, everything you should know about Todd Chrisley’s initial spouse
Todd Chrisley seldom discusses his union with ex-wife Teresa Terry.
The star of Chrisley Knows Best wed his high school darling when they were quite young and they are parents to two children, Lindsie and Kyle.
Born in 1971, Todd Chrisley’s first wife Teresa is 49 years old as of 2020.
Known as Teresa Terry Chrisley, she met Todd while they were both still students at Westminster High School in South Carolina.
Todd’s family residence was a social gathering point where classmates would congregate after school and during weekends. Chrisley’s mother, Faye, prepared meals for everyone.
At the age of 19, Teresa became expectant with Todd’s first child, Lindsie. Chrisley, just 21 at the time, was not enthusiastic but he made what they both believed to be the correct decision and proposed.
According to Teresa’s account, they wed because they both felt it was the appropriate action to take.
Fifteen months after Lindsie’s birth, the young couple welcomed their son, Kyle.
Throughout their seven years together, Teresa asserted that they separated several times. As reported by The Daily Mail, there were occasions when Todd would yell uncontrollably at her without any clear reason — only to switch to giving her the cold shoulder for days on end.
As Teresa disclosed, Todd would bombard her with demands on how to present herself, behave, and raise their children.
The reported emotional manipulation eventually led to physical abuse. Pushed to her limit, she lodged a domestic violence report and vacated the marital residence, this time permanently.
In this instance, Terry alleged that in December 1992, ‘while under the influence,’ Todd Chrisley wrecked her belongings ‘and assaulted his mother’ and Teresa.
When Teresa finally departed from the marital household, she took Kyle, who was then three years old, and intended to retrieve five-year-old Lindsie, who was with Chrisley’s parents at that moment.
Todd and Teresa engaged in a lengthy dispute over child custody — which Teresa claims hindered her from establishing a meaningful connection with Lindsie. The divorce wasn’t concluded until 1996, as both parties fought for full custody of the children, and after numerous ups and downs, Teresa withdrew the domestic violence charges.
During his testimony, Chrisley – who faced accusations of intentionally avoiding court officials trying to serve him – refuted all claims and insisted that he had never been physically aggressive towards his wife or mother.
Ultimately, Chrisley and Teresa were awarded joint physical and legal custody. Teresa relocated to a gated community in Atlanta with her new partner and children. However, she stated that Chrisley hired a private investigator to follow her.
According to Teresa, one night she was at home when she noticed a red laser focused on her residence and saw Chrisley standing in front of the house. This incident is also recorded in court documents reviewed by MailOnline.
Currently, Teresa and her present spouse live in rural Oklahoma along with their children.
