Lindley Dodson: How Bharat Narumanchi shot and killed pediatrician

Lindley Dodson, a woman pediatrician, was fatally shot on Tuesday evening by Bharat Narumanchi, a critically ill physician who took her captive along with several staff members.

The incident occurred at Children’s Medical Group in Austin, Texas.

Narumanchi arrived at the facility armed with a handgun, a shotgun, and two travel bags at 4:30 PM.

He then took the mother of three hostage along with four other staff members.

The other four either managed to flee or were released by Narumanchi, but he retained Dodson.

Following a six-hour standoff during which law enforcement negotiators implored him not to harm her or himself, Narumanchi shot Dodson and then took his own life.

It remains unclear where he originates from, but authorities state that his family had been organizing hospice arrangements for him.

Police have not disclosed the type of cancer Narumanchi had been diagnosed with.

A week prior, he visited Dodson’s practice in Austin and sought a volunteer position but was declined for the role. The reason for this is unknown, and it’s uncertain if it was Dodson who rejected him.
