
Femi Osinbona: Biography of the developer behind the Ikoyi high-rise disaster
On the first day of November 2021, calamity befell the Ikoyi region of Lagos state as a high-rise structure in the vicinity fell down around 2:45 pm.
The structure was said to encompass 21 floors and was located at 44BCD Gerrard Road, positioned in the Ikoyi neighborhood of Lagos.
Information disclosed that the high-rise was intended to be filled with opulent apartments upon finishing the construction.
The consequences of the unfortunate event indicated that four individuals had been confirmed deceased while an unknown number of individuals were reportedly trapped.
Investigation has now disclosed that the collapsed edifice named the 360 Degree Tower was commissioned by and being erected for Fourscore Homes, a United Kingdom-based private real estate firm owned by Nigerian developer Femi Osibona, also known as Olufemi Adegoke Osibona.
As reported, Osibona is the first African developer to construct the seven-story structure in the United Kingdom. He mentioned in an interview with This Day that his company focuses on the development of premium properties across various regions worldwide.
Osibona’s Fourscore Homes is affiliated with the NHBRC (National Home Builders Registration Council) in South Africa and Zurich Building Guarantee for Europe, confirming the company’s footprint beyond Africa.

Osibona’s Fourscore possesses a Mansion located at 113 Albion Drive London Fields, E8, 4LZ, East London. He is the inaugural black developer of African descent to establish other projects in the UK.
The company commenced its venture in the real estate market in the United Kingdom before setting up a branch in South Africa and subsequently Nigeria.
In 2009, during Brig-General Buba Marwa’s (rtd) tenure as the Nigerian High Commissioner for South Africa, Fourscore Homes constructed six luxury units referred to as the Fourscore Mansions in Waterkloof.
Fourscore initiated its real estate operations in Hackney, London in 1997.
Osibona, in an interview, disclosed that prior to entering the real estate sector, he sold garments and footwear to earn a living in London from 1991 to 1998.
He departed Nigeria with an HND qualification and began real estate development and property acquisition in 1997.
Osibona has successfully completed over 50 projects in London and Manchester and owns various properties in South Africa. Furthermore, he is the mastermind behind 360 Towers in Ikoyi, a trio of high-rise 15-story buildings in Ikoyi, among other ventures in Lagos state.
The real estate developer is an alumnus of Croydon University in the UK, where he pursued studies in business and finance.
