He played for the Atlanta Braves until 1975 and subsequently moved to the Los Angeles Dodgers from 1976 to 1983.
While playing for the Dodgers, Dusty was selected as an All-Star twice and celebrated victory in the 1981 World Series.
He later played briefly for the San Francisco Giants and the Oakland Athletics before retiring from Major League play.
In the early 1990s, Dusty began his career as a manager and led the San Francisco Giants from 1993 to 2002.
